Mission:

Our mission is to support each person who lives at KNI to have a meaningful life.

We will accomplish this by:

Ensuring well-being

  • Provide the support necessary to ensure the safety and health (protection from harm) of each person by administering medications, providing or arranging for routine health services, providing adaptive equipment, assisting in preparing well-balanced meals, and providing safe and well-maintained homes.
  • Provide training in the prevention of abuse, neglect, and exploitation.
Providing opportunities for choice
  • Develop Essential Lifestyle Plans and Daily Maps that outline each person's lifestyle preferences.
  • Provide the support necessary to help people participate in activities of choice and to expose people to a wide variety of new experiences. Look for opportunities to encourage choice making in each person's daily life.
Promoting personal relationships
  • Provide opportunities for the people we support to increase social relationships and to develop and maintain friendships with people at KNI and in the community.
  • Provide supports to people to maintain or reestablish relationships with their families and other members of their natural support networks.
Encouraging participation in the community
  • Provide opportunities for people to shop, attend recreational events, participate in jobs, and enjoy a variety of other routine and special activities in the community.
Recognizing individuality
  • Focus on each person's preferences, strengths, and desires in deciding how to best support that person.
  • Honor personal preferences by helping people develop and follow individualized daily routines and obtain jobs that are consistent with the person's interests and preferences.
  • Provide the support each person needs to live in a way that expresses personal preferences and individuality.
