Programs

The Program Services division of KNI is organized into two residential units, and also includes an Employment Services division, and an Advocacy and Service Coordination division. People who live at KNI live in one of twenty-four homes in five residential lodges: Honey Bee Lodge, Flinthills Lodge, Meadowlark Lodge, Sunflower Lodge and Cottonwood Lodge. The people who reside in each home are supported by a self-directed “home team” consisting of direct support staff led by a team coach. Team coaches are supervised by one of two residential unit directors.

Unit 1
Unit 1 includes the people who live in four homes located in Honey Bee Lodge and six homes located in Flinthills Lodge. Most of the people who live in Unit 1 homes have a need for very accessible living areas and adaptive equipment including lift vans, mechanical lifts, wheelchairs, and a variety of other equipment to allow them to access their homes and community as fully as possible. These people require considerable assistance in order to participate as fully as possible in their daily activities and routines. Seventy-three people are served within the ten Unit 1 homes.

Unit 2
Unit 2 includes the people who live in five homes located in Meadowlark Lodge, three homes located in Sunflower Lodge, and six homes located in Cottonwood Lodge. Most of the people who live in Unit 2 homes need a great deal of support to participate meaningfully in their daily activities and routines. Some of the people residing in Unit 2 homes have significant physical disabilities, and many need a considerable amount of positive behavioral support in order to be safe and to interact positively with other people. Eighty-six people are served within the fourteen Unit 2 homes.
