About KSBVI

Our mission is to help persons who are blind or visually impaired to improve their quality of life. Kansas Services for the Blind and Visually Impaired (KSBVI) provides people with an array of services and experiences aimed at overcoming not only the physical difficulties brought on by the loss of vision, but also the fear of change associated with vision loss. More specifically, KSBVI can help with job search and retention activities; life skills training; access to medical services; and technical assistance.

Caring, Professional Staff

Professionals at KSBVI are widely recognized for their success in teaching the life skills and techniques — the needed "how-tos" — of blindness. Staff at KSBVI believe the real disadvantage of blindness does not lie with the physical disability, but with society's misconception that blindness equals helplessness. Staff work with participants to dispel common misconceptions and develop a positive attitude about blindness. After going through the program, participants realize that with the right attitude, education, training, and equipment, they can participate fully in most aspects of life.
